    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Drops 33.2% to KSh 391.7 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Drops 33.2% to KSh 391.7 Million


    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a 33% fall in Equity Turnover to KSh 391.7 Million when trading ended this Tuesday compared to KSh 585.9 Million. The volume of shares traded also declined 36% to 11.9 Million from the previous 18.6 Million.


    The day’s top price gainers were led by Sameer Africa, whose price was up 10% to KSh 2.87 followed by Nairobi Business Ventures which gained 9.3% to KSh 4.57; Transcentury which was up 8.3% to KSh 1.30 and BK Group Plc which gained 6.1% to KSh 28.00


    Data wrap from AIB/AXYS Africa Research shows that the worst-performing counters were led by Olympia Capital Holdings which fell by 9.0% to KSh 1.82 followed by Umeme which declined by 5,8% to close at KSh 6.50; CIC Insurance Group which lost 5.3% of its price to KSh 2.15 after moving a volume of 69,100 shares and Liberty Kenya Holdings whose share price declined by 3,7% to KSh 6.78 on a volume of 21,100 shares.


    Foreign investors were active in KCB, WPP ScanGroup, Total Kenya and were net sellers in Safaricom, ABSA Kenya and Bamburi Cement.

    Activity in the Secondary Bonds market was subdued with turnover in bonds falling to KSh 2.83 Billion in 66 deals, a decline of 33.95% compared to a turnover of KSh 3.27 Billion from 85 deals at the close of the previous trading session.

    NSE INDICES


    The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) lost 0.6% from 163.8 points from the previous 164.8 points while the NSE 20 Share Index rose o.1% to 1,878.5 from the previous 1,876.1. The NSE 25 Share Index declined 0.3% to 3667.9 points from the previous 3,679.8 points.

    The day’s top movers were led by Safaricom with a volume of 6,190,100 at the price of KSh 37.55, accounting for 59.3% of total market activity.

    Safaricom was followed by KCB Group which moved a volume of 2,794,100 shares, at the price of KSh 44.70 per share, accounting for 31.9% of total market activity, ABSA Kenya Plc moved 1,268,000 shares at the price of KSh 10.75 while Kenya Power moved 358,300 shares at the price of KSh 1.75 per share.

    The Derivatives Market had 24 contracts worth KSh 919,420 concluded compared to 44 contracts worth KSh 1,758,210 at the previous session.
