    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 243.9% to KSh 728.9 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 243.9% to KSh 728.9 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) was up to KSh 728.9 Million when trading ended at the bourse this Tuesday, 8th February 2022 compared to Monday’s 217.6 Million.

    The number of shares also increased to 19.4 Million today compared to 5.9 Million at the end of the previous trading session.

    NSE Market Capitalization increased to KSh2.6 Trillion from the previous KSh 2.5 Million while Total Deals increased to 1269 from the previous 1099.


    The NSE All Share Index was up 1.99 points to 168.83 while the NSE 2o share index was down 6.93 points to 1887.55. The NSE 25 Share Index was up 21.61 points to close at 3769.34

    The secondary bonds market had a turnover 0f 6 Billion from 91 deals compared to KSh 3.2 Billion from 121 deals at the end of Monday’s trading.

    The derivatives market had 10 contracts worth KSh 362,520 compared to 13 contracts worth KSh 495,650 at the end of the previous trading session this Monday.

    NSE Top Price Gainers and Losers

    The day’s top gainers were led by Uchumi which was up 9.52% to KSh 0.23 followed by Unga which gained 9.42% to KSh 33.10; Sanlam Kenya which gained 7.80% to stand at KSh 10.50; Sameer Africa which was up 3.76% to KSh 2.76 and Umeme which was up 3.34% to KSh 6.18.

    The worst performing counters were led by BAT which declined by 4.07% to KSh 430.50 followed by CIC which declined by 3.93% to KSh 2.20, Williamson Tea which was down 3.70% to KSh 130.00; Liberty Kenya which fell by 3.22% to KSh 6.62 and HFCK which declined by 2.57% to KSh 3.41.

    Safaricom was the day’s top over with 15.63 Million shares changing hands followed by Coop Bank( 1.30 Million), Equity( 839,500), Kenya Re( 280,700) and KCB( 203,900).
