    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 63.4% to KSh 459.2 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 63.4% to KSh 459.2 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded an increase in daily equity turnover to KSh 459,160,272.00 this Wednesday from the previous day’s turnover of KSh 281,027,025.00.

    The number of shares traded was 14,246,600 compared to the previous day’s 8.808,500 while the number of equity deals was 985 down from the previous 994.

    The benchmark NSE All Share Index(NASI) lost 1.23 points to close at 163.07 while the NSE 20 Share Index was down 0.59 points to 1889.69. The NSE 25 Share Index lost 12.21 points to close at 3663.09

    NSE Top Gainers and Losers

    The day’s top price gainer was Longhorn Publishers which was up 10% to KSh 4.40 followed by Olympia Capital which gained 9.66% to KSh 1.93; Trans-Century which edged up 5.76% to KSh 1.47; Car& General which appreciated by 4.68% to KSh 72.75 and Uchumi which gained 4.55% to KSh 0.23.

    The worst performers were led by East African Cables which declined by 4.84% to KSh 1.18 followed by Sasini which lost 2.435 to close at KSh 20.05; Nation Media Groupo which declined by 2.35% to KSh 18.70; Nairobi Business Ventures which lost 1.57% of its share price to close at KSh 5.00 and Safaricom which shed 1.46% of its price to close at KSh 37.00 per share.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest movers with a volume of 11 million shares followed by Britam( 1.81 Million), Equity( 349,700), KCB( 299,100) and KPLC( 123,600).

    The Derivatives market had 10 contracts worth KSh 409,100 concluded compared to 10 contracts valued at KSh 410,430 at the previous session.

    The Secondary Bonds market had a turnover of KSh 2,236,150,000 in 78 deals today, compared to a turnover of KSh 3,172,050,000 in 69 deals at the previous trading session.
