    NSE Equity Turnover Drops 39.9% to KSh 284.4 Million

    NSE Equity Turnover Drops 39.9% to KSh 284.4 Million


    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a decline in Equity turnover to KSh 284.4 Million compared to KSh 398 Million this Thursday, a drop of 40%. Equity turnover was KSh 417.7 Million on Wednesday.

    The volume of shares traded also decreased to 7.7 Million from 11.4 Million on Thursday and 12.3 Million on Wednesday.

    The benchmark NSE All Share Index (NASI) was down 2.46 points to close at 170.94; the NSE 20-Share Index lost 7.41 points to close at 1948.87 and the NSE 25 Share Index lost 33.32 points to close at 3757.80.

    NSE Top Gainers and Losers

    The top price gainers were led by Flame Tree Group, whose shares rose 9.76% to KSh 1.35 followed by East African Cables which gained 8.46% to KSh 1.41, Sanlam Kenya which was up 3.11% to KSh 4.98 and Home Afrika which gained 2.50% to KSh 0.41.

    The day’s laggards were led by BK Group which declined by 7.835 to KSh 26.50 followed by Umme which declined by 7.25% to KSh 6.40, Kenya Re-Insurance which fell 2.93% to KSh 2.32, Safaricom whose price fell by 2.07% to KSh 40.20 and Jubilee which shed off 1.79% to sell at KSh 343.75 per share.

    The day’s biggest movers were led by Safaricom (4.1 Million), C0-operative Bank(1.1 Million), KPLC(580,700), KCB(363,200) and Equity Group( 306,300).

    The Secondary Bonds market had a turnover of KSh 3.5 Billion from 92 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 2.9 Billion from 95 deals at the previous session.

    In the Derivatives market, a total of 30 contracts worth KSh 1.3 Million were concluded compared to 20 contracts valued at KS 907,130 at the previous session.
