    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 11.3% to KSh 753 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 11.3% to KSh 753 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) posted an increase in daily equity turnover to KSh 753 Million when trading ended at the bourse this Thursday compared to KSh 676 Million on Wednesday.

    The volume of shares traded also stood at 19.8 Million compared to 15.6 Million recorded this Wednesday.

    The NSE 20 Share Index rose up 7.46 points to stand at 1896.76 while the All Share Index(NASI) climbed 1.14 points to 168.62. The NSE 25 Share Index was up 19.64 points to settle at 3773.17.

    In the aggregate, 43 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 13 losers

    NSE Day’s top price gainer

    Unga was the day’s top gainer at the NSE, its share price rising 9.52% to KSh 36.25 followed by E.A Cables which gained 5.98% to KSh 1.24; Home Afrika which was up 5.56% to KSh 0.38; WPPScanGroup which gained 4.44% to KSh 4.23 and Express Kenya which edged 3.95% to close at KSh 3.95 per share this Thursday.

    Unga began the year with a share price of KSh 27.65 and has since gained 31.1% on that price valuation, ranking it second on the NSE in terms of year-to-date performance.

    UNGA stock has accrued 34% over the past four-week period alone—best on NSE.

    Olympia Capital was the day’s worst performer, declining 6.83% to KSh 1.91 followed by NBV which fell by 2.56% to KSh 4.95; TPSerena declined by 2.17% to KSh 13.50; Fahari I-REIT which declined by 1.25% to KSh 6.32 and BAT which depreciated by 1.15% to KSh 430.00 per share.

    Safaricom was the day’s top mover with 14.5 million shares valued at KSh 564 Million changing hands at between KSh 38.50 and KSh 38.95; representing 74.92% of the day’s traded value.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh170Million transacted which accounted for 22.57% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group Holdings moved 1.8Million shares valued at KSh99.9Million at between KSh52.50 and KSh 53.00.

    KCB Group moved 1.3Million shares valued at KSh 60.8Million and closed at KSh46.00. Standard Chartered Bank sold at KSh137.50 with shares worth KSh2.9Million transacted.

    Centum was the main feature in the investment sector and moved 626,000 share vakued at KSh 8.7 Million at between KSh 14.00 and KSh 14.30

    East Africa Breweries dominated the manufacturing and allied sector and moved 38,000 shares worth KSh 6 Million at a price of KSh 163.50
