    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines to KSh 581M

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines to KSh 581M

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover declined to KSh 581 million from the previous session’s KSh 2.3 billion. The volume of shares sold at the bourse stood at 16 million compared to 39.7 million posted yesterday.

    The Derivatives Market had 18 contracts valued at KSh 406,000 transacted in today’s trading session.

    The Safaricom Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022 traded 11 contracts valued at KSh286,000 at KSh 26.04. This is against Safaricom’s closing price of KSh 26.55 in the spot market.

    The NSE 20 share Index was up 7.09 points to stand at 1677.03, while the NSE All-Share Index(NASI) edged up 0.68 points to settle at 129.02. The NSE 25 Share Index picked up 10.81 points to settle at 3023.77.

    NSE TOP PRICE GAINER AND LOSER

    The top price gainer at the NSE was E.A Portland increased by 9.86% from KSh 7.10 to KSh 7.80, while the losing counters were led by Kapchorua Tea, which declined by 6.81% from KSh 95.50 to KSh 89.00.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 245m transacted, which accounted for 42.19% of the day’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings actively moved 4.9m shares valued at KSh208m between KSh 41.75 and KSh 43.95.

    Standard Chartered Bank moved 78,000 shares valued at KSh 9.7m and closed at KSh124.00. The Co-operative Bank remained steady at KSh11.50 with shares worth KSh7m transacted.

    ABSA Bank Kenya up 0.61% to KSh 9.96 and moved 699,000 shares valued at KSh6.96m.

    The Construction & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh1.78m traded, representing 0.31% of the day’s traded value. Bamburi Cement reversed the losses posted in the previous session and gained 1.13% to KSh35.75 with shares worth KSh1.7m transacted.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 123m traded, representing 21.25% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 873,000 shares worth KSh123m at a fairly stable price of KSh141.00.

    Safaricom rose by 0.76% to KSh 26.55, up from KSh 26.35 registered the previous session with shares worth KSh208m transacted; this represented 35.84% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh 2.6 billion transacted.
