    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 85% to KSh 1.01 Billion

    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 85% to KSh 1.01 Billion

    Trading on Tuesday at the Nairobi Securities Exchange saw an 85% rise in turnover to Ksh. 1.01 Billion. This is in comparison to Monday’s turnover of Ksh. 548 million. A total of 39.18 million shares were traded in 1,398 deals. Safaricom made up the better part of the day’s trading with 31.74 million shares traded valued at Ksh. 846.78 million. Safaricom was trading between Ksh 26.45 and Ksh 27.20. The telecommunication giant closed the day with a 1.11% share price depreciation to close at Ksh 26.70

    KCB Group moved 1.2 million shares valued at Ksh 41.65 million. The bank’s stock was trading between Ksh 34.20 and Ksh 35.25. KCB closed 0.71% lower than Monday’s price at Ksh 34.80 per share. BK Group moved shares worth Ksh 16.3 million closing the list of top 3 movers of the day. BK Group saw a 99.9% foreign investor participation.

    Equity Group saw a 2.51% end of day share price depreciation closing at Ksh 33.00 per share. Equity moved shares worth Ksh 31.07 million in 76 deals. KPLC moved shares valued at Ksh 1.78 million trading at an average of Ksh 1.92 per share. The Board of KPLC recently appointed 5 new Non-Executive Directors of the Company

    Top gainer of the day was Stanlib Fahari I-REIT with a 3.60% price appreciation to close at Ksh 5.76. Other gainers of the day were Flame Tree Group(3.45%), TPS Eastern Africa(3.05%), Williamson Tea(2.97%) and Uchumi Supermarket(2.86%). Williamson Tea saw a turnover of Ksh 516,575.

    Standard Group Ltd saw an end of day share price depreciation of 9.84% closing at Ksh 22.45 per share. Other market losers of the day were: Eveready(7.48%), Sanlam Kenya(6.74%), Sameer Africa(6.10%) and Longhorn Publishers(4.84%). Longhorn Publishers saw a turnover of 110,630 to close at Ksh 4.52 per share.

    The Banking Sector had only one gainer at the end of trading; Diamond Trust(1.09%). ABSA moved shares worth Ksh 5.54 million closing 1.74% lower than Monday’s price at Ksh 9.02 per share. Co-operative bank was trading at an average of Ksh 11.65 realizing a turnover of Ksh 3.67 million. Co-operative saw a 24.1% foreign investor participation.

    The NSE All share Index shed off 1.43 points to close at 130.79. The NSE 20 shed 3.38 points to close at 1906.25 while the NSE 25 closed at 3076.64 having declined 29.16 points.
