    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 230.2% to KSh 799M

    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 230.2% to KSh 799M

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE)Daily Equity Turnover rose to KSh799Million from the previous session’s KSh242Million.

    The number of shares traded stood at 26Million against 9Million posted on Wednesday.

    The NSE 20 share Index was up 0.60 points to stand at 1857.76. The NSE All-Share Index NASI shed 0.60 points to settle at 156.69. The NSE 25 Share Index lost 1.74 points to stand at 3565.47.

    The Derivatives Market had 36 contracts valued at KSh1Million transacted in today’s trading session.

    The Safaricom Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th March 2023 traded 11 contracts valued at KSh 407,000 at KSh37.07. This is against Safaricom’s closing price of KSh34.75 in the spot market.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh179Million transacted, which accounted for 22.38% of the day’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings actively moved 1.98Million shares valued at KSh99Million between KSh49.50 and KSh50.00.

    Standard Chartered Bank moved 423,000 shares valued at KSh61Million and closed at KSh145.00. I&M Holdings remained steady at KSh20.35 with shares worth KSh5.6Million transacted.

    The Energy & Petroleum sector had shares valued at KSh52M, representing 6.56% of the day’s traded value.

    Umeme Limited moved 6Million shares worth KSh51.7Million between KSh7.96 and KSh8.28.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh25Million, representing 3.14% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 162,000 shares worth KSh23.7Million at a fairly stable price of KSh146.00.

    Safaricom was the day’s main feature, with 15Million shares valued at KSh538Million changing hands between KSh34.50 and KSh35.45; this represented 67.25% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh1.8Billion transacted.
