    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines to Ksh 44.7 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines to Ksh 44.7 Million


    The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded a slump in the daily equity turnover during today’s trading session to Ksh 44.7 million against the Ksh 523 million that was recorded during Friday’s trading session.

    Consequently, the number of shares traded declined to 2.99 million shares during today’s trading session at the bourse as compared to 21 million shares traded during the previous trading session.

    The NSE All-Share Index declined 0.21 points to close at 121.60 followed by the NSE 20 Share Index which shed 10.68 points to settle at 1616.14 Consequently, the NSE 25 Share Index declined 13.71 points ending the day at 2862.63.

    The Derivatives Market had a total of 9 contracts valued at Ksh 258,000 transacted in today’s trading session. The Safaricom Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th March 2023 traded 5 contracts valued at Ksh .130,000 at a price of Ksh.26.00. This is against a closing price of Ksh.24.35 posted by Safaricom in the spot market.

    NSE Gainers and Losers

    ILAM Fahari I-Reit led the gainers during today’s trading session, gaining 7.94% to Ksh 5.98 per share, followed by Britam Plc which was up 7.53% to Ksh 6.00 per share, Flame Tree Plc came in third gaining 7.44% to close at Ksh 1.30, Longhorn Plc which rose by 7.12% to Ksh 3.31 per share, followed by Transcentury Plc which was up 7.00% to Ksh 1.07%.

    Olympia Plc came out last during today’s trading session, shedding 9.47% to Ksh 2.20 per share, followed by Nairobi Business Ventures which lost 6.91% to close at Ksh 3.50 per share, Nation Media group declined 6.00% to Ksh 18.80 per share, followed by East African Cables which lost 4.04% to close at Ksh 0.95 and Williamson’s Tea Plc which declined 3.85% to close the day at Ksh 125.00 per share.

    The Bond market had bonds worth Ksh.3Bn transacted.
