    NSE Equity Turnover declines to KSh 223M

    NSE Equity Turnover declines to KSh 223M

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) posted a fall in equity turnover to KSh 223 Million on 6.7 million shares.

    This performance is compared to KSh 251 Million on 6.6 Million shares on Friday.

    All market indices were down, including the NSE 20 share Index, which was down 5.44 points to 1848.31. The All Share Index NASI shed 0.87 points to settle at 153.98. The NSE 25 Share Index dropped 13.05 points to stand at 3515.44.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh130Million transacted, which accounted for 58.52% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group Holdings was the day’s main feature, with 2Million shares valued at KSh101Million changing hands between KSh 49.50 and KSh50.00.

    ABSA Bank Kenya moved 660,000 shares valued at KSh 8Million and closed at KSh12.60. KCB Group was down 1.16% to KSh 42.50 and moved 194,000 shares valued at KSh8Million.

    The Commercial & Services sector had shares valued at KSh 1.9Million traded, representing 0.86% of the day’s traded value. Nation Media Group recorded a 3.34% gain to close the day at KSh23.20 with shares worth KSh1.5Million transacted.

    The Construction & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh9.78Million traded, representing 4.39% of the day’s traded value. Crown Paints closed 4.85% higher to KSh 40.00 on a volume of 206,000 shares valued at KSh8Million.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 7.3Million traded, representing 3.28% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries had 45,000 shares valued at KSh 6.5Million transacted between KSh 145.00 and KSh147.00.

    Safaricom moved 2Million shares valued at KSh 70Million at between KSh33.90 and KSh 35.00; this represented 31.62% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh 1.1billion transacted.
