    NSE Daily Turnover Trebles to KSh 854.5 Million

    NSE Daily Turnover Trebles to KSh 854.5 Million

    Equity turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) more than trebled to KSh 854.49 Million when trading at the bourse closed on 25th August 2020.

    This was on a volume of 37.32 Million shares in 1,173 deals.

    When the bourse closed on Monday 24th August 2020, turnover was at KSh 260.9 Million on a volume of 10.97 Million shares traded in 829 deals. The NSE All-Share Index rose 1.03% from the 132.52 points to 133.89.

    The NSE 20 Share Index declined by 0.30% to 1743.08 from 1748.40 while the NSE 25 Share Index rose to 3,071.26, an increase of 0.89% from the previous 3,044.29.

    The biggest mover was Safaricom, which traded a volume of 17.70 Million shares worth KSh 506.81 Million in 207 deals, 61.8 % being the participation of foreign investors in the 207 deals.

    The share price of Safaricom rose from KSh 28.20 to close at KSh 28.65.

    Other top movers were Kenya Re which traded a volume of 6,212,400, with the share price falling to KSh 2.15 from the previous KSh 2.34, a decline of 8.12%.

    It was followed by Co-operative Bank (2 million), Equity ( 1.68 Million) and NCBA (1.53 Million).

    Longhorn Publishers was the top gainer with its share price rising 6.21% to KSh 4.79. Local investors were the key drivers on this counter, participating in 2 deals worth KSh 12,940.

    Other gainers were Liberty Kenya Holdings, Sasini, Bank of Kigali and Eveready.

    The Biggest loser was Sanlam Kenya Plc whose share price declined by 9.96% to KSh 12.20 from the previous KSh 13.50.

    It was followed by Nairobi Business Ventures, Kenya Re, Uchumi with Trans Century share price falling 5.56% to KSh 1.70.
