    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises to KSh 178 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises to KSh 178 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded a 50% rise in Monday’s trading session with Equity turnover rising to Kes 178 million against the kes 119 million posted during the previous trading session.

    The number of shares traded rose to 6.3 million during today’s trading session compared to the 4.5 million shares posted during Monday’s trading session.

    The NSE All Share Index was up 0.16 points to close at 159.21 while the NSE 20 Share Index gained 1.71 points to settle at 1866.30. However the NSE 25 Share Index lost 1.04 points ending the day at 3612.06

    The Banking Sector had shares worth Kes.63.9M transacted which accounted for 35.90% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group Holdings moved 367,000 shares valued at Kes.18.8M at between Kes.50.50 and Kes.51.50. KCB Group moved 388,000 shares valued at Kes.17M and closed at Kes.45.05. Co-operative Bank remained steady at Kes.12.90 with shares worth Kes.15M transacted.

    NSE Top Gainers and Losers

    Transcentury Plc was the leading gainer during today’s trading session gaining 7.92% to kes 1.09 per share , followed by Stanchart which was up 7.44% to kes 140.75. CIC Insurance came out third after rising 7.35% to kes 2.19, followed by Nairobi Business Venture which gained 5.42% to end the day at kes 4.86 per share.

    Sanlam Plc was the day’s biggest loser at the bourse shedding 9.41% to kes 11.55 per share, followed by Sameer Plc which was down 9.40% to kes 2.41 per share, Liberty which shed 8.16% to kes 6.30 per share and HF Group which lost 6.96% closing the day at kes 3.21 per share.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with 2.7M shares valued at Kes.96M changing hands at between Kes.35.30 and Kes.35.60; this represented 54.11% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth Kes.6.4Bn transacted.
