    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises to Kes 648 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded quite a rise in equity turnover during today’s trading session to Kes 648 million against the kes 110 million that was recorded on Thursday.

    The number of shares traded rose to 20 million against the 6.2 million shares traded during the previous trading session.

    The NSE All-Share Index declined 0.99 points to close at 155.23 followed by the NSE 20 Share Index which shed 15.03 points to settle at 1857.36 Consequently, the NSE 25 Share Index declined 20.20 points ending the day at 3568.79.

    NSE Gainers and Losers

    Total plc led the gainers during today’s trading session gaining 8.46% to kes 25 per share, followed by Nairobi business Ventures which gained 5.90% to kes 4.13, Sameer plc which was up 3% to kes 2.40, Carbacid Investments which gained 2.61% to kes 11.80 followed by CIC insurance which rose 1.93% to close at kes 2.11 per share.

    ILAM Fahari I-Reit came out last during today’s trading session shedding 7.62% to kes 6.06 per share, followed by car and general which was down 6.25% to kes 45, WPP ScanGroup which was down 5.32% to kes 4.09, Transcentury Plc declined 4.17% to kes 1.15 followed by Flame Tree group which was down 3,25% to kes 1.19 per share.

    Safaricom was the day’s main feature with 16.5M shares valued at Kes.579M changing hands between Kes.34.90 and Kes.35.50; this represented 89.40% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth Kes.1.4Bn transacted.
