    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 92.7% to KSh343 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 92.7% to KSh343 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE)Daily Equity Turnover increased to KSh 343 Million from the previous sessions KSh 178 Million, an increase of 92.7%

    The shares traded stood at 11 Million against 6.3 Million posted this Monday.

    The day’s top gainers were led by Car& General, which rose 6.40% to KSh 66.50, followed by Nation Media Group, which was up 4.80% to KSh 19.65, East African Cables, which gained 4.59% to KSh 1.14, TransCentury which was up 3.67% to KSh 1.13 and Home Afrika which rose 2.78% to KSh 0.37.

    The worst performers were led by BK Group, which declined by 6.41% to KSh 27.00, followed by Uchumi, which fell by 4.55% to KSh 0.21, CIC Insurance which declined by 4.11% to KSh 2.10, Eveready, which fell by 3.37% to KSh 0.86 and Longhorn Publishers which declined by 3.16% to KSh 3.68

    The banking sector dominated trading activities at the bourse, moving a total of shares worth KSh 209 Million, accounting for 60.68% of the day’s traded value. KCB sold 1.95 Million worth KSh 87.9Million at between KSh 45.00 and KSh 45.70, while ABSA Kenya sold 3.8 Million shares valued at KSh 46.8 Million. Equity moved 620,000 shares worth KSh 31.8 Million and closed the day at a price of KSh 51.25

    Safaricom sold 3 Million shares valued at KSh 107 Million between KSh 35.30 and KSh 36.80, representing 31.18% of the day’s traded value.

    The secondary bonds market had bonds worth KSh 6 billion transacted.

    East African Breweries moved 131,000 shares worth KSh 19.7 Million at the price of KSh 150.

    The derivatives market had 20 contracts worth KSh 951,900 compared to 11 contracts worth KSh 574,310 concluded at the previous session.

    The NSE 20 share index was up 1.47 points to 1867.76, while the NSE All-Share Index rose 0.27 points to settle at 159.48. The NSE 25 Share Index gained 6.98 points to 3619.04
