    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 64.9% to KSh 366M

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 64.9% to KSh 366M

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) posted a rise in daily equity turnover to KSh 366 Million from KSh 222 Million recorded this Monday, an increase of 64.86%.


    All market indices were down, with NSE 20 share Index losing 20.40 points to stand at 1827.90 while the NSE All-Share Index NASI shed 1.63 points to settle at 152.35. The NSE 25 Share Index shaved off 55.86 points to stand at 3459.58.

    The Derivatives Market had 56 contracts valued at KSh2.2Million transacted in today’s trading session. The KCB Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th March 2023 traded 23 contracts valued at KSh1Million at KSh45.28. This is against KCB’s closing price of KSh39.65 in the spot market.

    The number of shares traded stood at 9Million against 6.7Million posted yesterday.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh229Million transacted, which accounted for 62.62% of the day’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings was the day’s main feature, with 3.6Million shares valued at KSh180Million changing hands between KSh 48.50 and KSh49.90. KCB Group closed 6.71% lower to KSh39.65 on a volume of 604,000 shares valued at KSh23.9Million. Standard Chartered Bank Kenya moved 93,000 shares valued at KSh13Million and closed at KSh144.25.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh 19Million traded, representing 5.21% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 129,000 shares worth KSh18.8Million at a relatively stable price of KSh145.00.

    Safaricom actively moved 3.3Million shares valued at KSh113Million between KSh 33.25 and KSh34.00; this represented 30.72% of the day’s traded value.

    The Secondary Bonds market had bonds worth KSh4.4Billion transacted.
