    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 10.9% to KSh 417.4 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 10.9% to KSh 417.4 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Daily Equity Turnover rose to KSh 417.4 Million when trading ended this Thursday from the previous day’s KSh 376.3 Million, an increase of 10.9%

    The number of shares traded also increased to 13.2 Million from Wednesday’s 10.5 Million. The total number of equity deals increased to 1,186 from the previous day’s 481.

    NSE Top Gainers and Losers

    Top price gainers were led by Nation Media Group, which rose 8.62% to KSh 20.80 followed by TPS Serena which gained 8.19% to KSh 12.55; Nairobi Business Ventures which was up 7.43% to KSh 4.77 per share; Olympia Capital which was up 5% to KSh 2.10 and Uchumi which edged up 4.76% to KSh 0.22

    The worst performing counters were led by EGAD which declined by 6.67% to KSh 12.60 followed by Sasini which was down 6.35% to KSh 18.45; Flame Tree Group which fell by 6.35% to KSh 1.18; Sanlam Kenya which lost 4.76% to KSh 11.00 and HFCK which lost 3.77% to close the day this Thursday at KSh 3.32.

    The day’s prime movers were Safaricom with a volume of 7.98 Million followed by ABSA( 2.38Million), KenGen( 748,900), KCB( 559,900) and Stanbic Holdings(300,100).

    The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) was down 1.50 points to close at 157.68, while the NSE 20 Share Index lost 3.79 points to close at 1861.13. The NSE 25 Share Index lost 29.97 points to close at 3598.99

    The secondary bonds market had a turnover of KSh 5.2 Billion from the previous day’s KSh 6.7 Billion. This was from 130 deals compared to Wednesday’s 164.
