    NSE Equity Turnover Climbs 70.8% to KSh 537.9M

    NSE Equity Turnover Climbs 70.8% to KSh 537.9M

    The NSE recorded an increase in daily equity turnover to KSh 537.9 Million on 16.1 Million shares sold this Monday, compared to a turnover of KSh 314.9 Million on 9.9 Million shares sold when trading ended at the Nairobi bourse on Friday last week, an increase of 71% in market activity.

    The number of equity deals declined to 935 from Friday’s 982 deals.

    NSE INDICES

    The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) was up 0.32 points to 139.97, while the NSE 20 Share Index declined 2.85 points to close at 1744.37. The NSE 25-Share Index was up 5.87 points to close at 3205.02.

    The Derivatives Market had four contracts worth KSh 59,750 this Monday, compared to 1 contract worth KSh 45,500 at the end of the previous session.

    In today’s trading session, this segment witnessed the listing of 4 new Single Stock Contracts; NCBA, COOP, SCBK and IMHP.

    The ABSA Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022 traded three contracts valued at KSh 29,000 at KSh 9.75.

    This is against a closing price of KSh 9.86 posted by ABSA in the spot market.

    The Secondary Bonds market registered a turnover of KSh 2.4 billion from 86 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 2.6 billion on 122 deals previously.

    Kapchorua Tea was the day’s top gainer, its share price rising by 6.11% from KSh 90.00 to KSh 95.50, while the worst performer was Olympia Capital, which declined by 8.77% from KSh 2.28 to KSh 2.08.

    Safaricom was the day’s main feature, with 12.6Million shares valued at KSh.383Million changing hands between KSh 30.10 and KSh 31.00; this represented 71.24% of the day’s traded value.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh75.8Million transacted, which accounted for 14.09% of the day’s traded value.

    KCB Group actively moved 1.3Million shares valued at KSh 46.5Million between KSh 35.20 and KSh 35.75. Equity Group Holdings moved 247,000 shares valued at KSh 11Million and closed at KSh 45.60. Standard Chartered Bank remained steady at KSh124.75 with shares worth KSh 7.79Million transacted.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh72.9Million traded, representing 13.56% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries sold 510,000 shares valued at KSh72.7Million at between KSh142.00 and KSh 142.50.
