    NSE Weekly Market Capitalization Drops 5.1% to KSh 2.1 Trillion

    NSE Weekly Market Capitalization Drops 5.1% to KSh 2.1 Trillion

    NSE Market Capitalization closed last week at KSh 2,064.95 Billion, a 5.12% decrease from the prior week’s KSh2,176.36 Billion.

    According to the NSE Barometer weekly bulletin, there was a net outflow of KSh 584.24 million during the past week, from the prior week’s outflow of KSh 1,208.62 Million.

    The NSE 20-share Index closed last week lower at 1,680.53 points, a 3.82% decrease from the preceding week’s figure of 1,747.22 points.

    Equally, the All-share index decreased by 5.11%to close last week at 132.52 points from the prior week’s figure of 139.65 points.

    The NSE 25 Share Index decreased by 3.5% to close last week at 3,087.10 points from the preceding week’s figure of 3,199.15 points.

    The volume of equity traded decreased by 29.59% to close the week at 54.86 Million, compared to 77.92 million recorded in the previous week.

    The bonds market decreased by 17.32%% to close the week ended May 20th 2022, at KSh13,828.45 Million from KSh 16,726.23 Million in the prior week.

    During last week, the total market turnover of the top 5 companies at the NSE was KSh1,546.21 Million, accounting for 94.3% of the total turnover.

    Safaricom had a weekly turnover of KSh 924.0 million or 56.40% of overall market turnover, followed by KCB (KSh 181.91 million) or 11.09% of total turnover, NCBA (KSh 165.17 million), EABL (KSh154.87 million) and Equity (KSh 119.46 million).

    By market turnover, the top five companies were Safaricom, KCB, NCBA, EABL and Equity.

    The Top Five’s Total Turnover as a proportion of total market turnover decreased by 0.43% from 94.73% recorded in the prior week.
