    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines 46.7% to KSh 130 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines 46.7% to KSh 130 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Daily Equity Turnover declined significantly to KSh 130 Million on a volume of 4.4 Million shares compared to KSh 244 Million on a volume of 4.2 Million shares traded on Friday last week.

    The Derivatives Market had 17 contracts worth KSh 711,000 concluded compared to 69 contracts worth KSh 2,688,360 at the previous trading session.

    The benchmark NSE All Share Index lost 0.80 points to close at 167.14 while the NSE 20 Share Index was up 5.83 points to stand at 1903.17. The NSE 25 Share Index lost 1.70 points to 3756.81

    The banking sector moved shares worth KSh 42.7 Million which accounted for 32.62% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group sold 584,000 shares valued at KSh 31 Million at between KSh 53.00 and KSh 53.50. KCB Group was up 0.77% to KSh 45.65 and moved 90,000 shares valued at KSh 4 Million. Absa Bank sold 273,000 shares valued at KSh 3.2 Million and closed the day at KSh 11.75.

    Safaricom was the day’s prime mover with 2 million shares valued at KSh 78.9 Million at between KSh 37.50 and KSh 38.60, accounting for 60.27% of the day’s traded value.

    NSE Top Gainers and Losers

    Carbacid Investments was the day’s top price gainer, rising 5.80% to KSh 10.95 followed by CIC which was up 4.57% to KSh 2.29; Nation Media Group which gained 2.15% to KSh 19.00; Britam which rose 1.94% to KSh 7.34 and Car& General which was up 1.64% to KSh 62.00

    The worst performers were led by Flame Tree Group which fell by 6.92% to KSh 1.21 followed by Sameer Africa which declined by 6.76% to KSh 2.62; Sasini which was down 6.73% to KSh 20.80; Home Afrika which declined by 5.13% to KSh 0.37 and TPSE which lost 3.335 to close at KSh 13.05.

    Apart from Safaricom, other top movers were Equity with a volule of 584,000, KenGen(341,000), Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation(341,900) and Absa (273,o00).

    The Secondary Bonds market had a turnover of KSh 1.9 Billion on 73 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 1.7 Billion on 63 deals when trading ended at the NSE on Friday last week.
