    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 402.7% to Hit KSh 2.3B

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover Rises 402.7% to Hit KSh 2.3B

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rose significantly to KSh 2.3 Billion from the previous day’s KSh 447 million, boosted by the sale of Stanbic shares, which saw the volume of shares traded rise to 39.7 million from the previous 13 million.

    NSE INDICES MOVEMENT

    The NSE 20 share Index was down 2.33 points to stand at 1669.94. The NSE All-Share Index (NASI) edged down 0.72 points to settle at 128.34, while the NSE 25 Share Index lost 7.48 points to settle at 3012.96.

    The NSE Derivatives Market had two contracts valued at KSh79,000 transacted in today’s trading session.

    The Equity Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022 traded 1 contract valued at KSh 44,000 at a price of KSh 44.00. This is against a closing price of KSh42.00 posted by Equity in the spot market.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh1.2 billion transacted, which accounted for 51.66% of the day’s traded value.

    Stanbic Holdings was the day’s main feature, with 9.9million shares valued at KSh1billion changing hands between KSh101.75 and KSh.108.00.

    KCB Group moved 1.4million shares valued at KSh52million and closed at KSh35.95. Equity Group Holdings, down 2.44% to KSh 42.00, moved 978,000 shares valued at KSh41million.

    The Construction & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh2.7million traded, representing 0.12% of the day’s traded value. Bamburi Cement closed 2.75% lower to KSh35.35 on a volume of 75,000 shares valued at KSh2.68million.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares valued at KSh562million traded, representing 24.31% of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 3million shares worth KSh 445million at a fairly stable price of KSh141.00. B.A.T moved 277,000 shares valued at KSh 117million and closed at KSh420.00.

    Safaricom actively moved 20.7million shares valued at KSh 545million at between KSh 25.50 and KSh 26.90; this represented 23.59% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bond market had bonds worth KSh 3 billion transacted.
