    NSE Weekly Turnover Dips to KSh 1.64Billion

    NSE Weekly Turnover Dips to KSh 1.64Billion

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Weekly Equity Turnover stood at KSh 1.64billion on 54.8million shares when trading ended at the bourse last week, against KSh 2.48billion on 77.8million shares posted the prior week.

    The benchmark NSE 20 share index declined by 66.69 points to stand at 1680.53. The All Share Index (NASI) shed 7.13 points to settle at 132.52, while the NSE 25 Share shaved off 112.05 points to settle at 3087.10.

    When trading ended at the bourse on Friday last week, the NSE Daily Equity Turnover declined to KSh 272.7 billion from the previous day’s KSh 317.6

    The Derivative Market closed the week with 68 contracts valued at KSh 2 million.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh524million transacted, which accounted for 31.99% of last week’s traded value.

    KCB Group was down 1.26% to KSh35.30 and moved 5million shares valued at KSh 182million. NCBA Group moved 6million shares valued at KSh 165million and closed the week at KSh26.25.

    Equity Group Holdings declined by 1.76% to KSh44.70, down from KSh45.50 registered the previous week with shares worth KSh119million transacted.

    The Construction & Allied Sector had shares worth KSh 6.5million transacted, representing 0.40% of the week’s traded value. Bamburi Cement closed the week 2.30% lower to KS36.15 on a volume of 166,000 shares valued at KSh 6 million.

    The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth KSh159million transacted, representing 9.69% of the week’s traded value.

    E.A Breweries edged up 0.88% to KSh 142.75, with shares worth KSh155million transacted during the week. B.A.T moved 6,000 shares valued at KSh2.6million and closed the week at KSh420.00.

    NSE had Safaricom As the Most Dominant Counter

    Safaricom declined by 7.95% to KSh 27.80 at the end of last week, down from KSh 30.20 registered the prior week, with shares worth KSh925million transacted; this represented 56.40% of the previous week’s traded value.

    The Bond Market registered reduced activity with bonds worth KSh 13.8 billion transacted compared to KSh 16.7 billion recorded the prior week.
