    NSE 20 Share Index Crosses 4000 Benchmark Point

    Daily Market Report On March 24th 2016

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange 20 Share index on Thursday gained by 0.24% to close above the 4,000 benchmark point to hit 4001.36 points for the first time since January 7th 2016.nse 20

    This was driven by volumes from Safaricom, Barclays bank of Kenya and Centum which accounted for 69.22% of the total volumes.

    Nairobi All Share Index gained by 0.22% to reach a month high of 147.56 points while NSE 25 Share Index was up by 0.14%.

    Market turnover at the bourse recorded  17.79% decrease to KES 413.30 Million from yesterday’s trading.

    Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 63.9% of total market sales and 43.2% of total market purchases, with a net outflow.Market capitalization continues improving closing at Ksh 2.1 Trillion representing 0.22% increase.

    Today’s Market News;

    • •The NSE recorded a 4.5% decline in after tax profit closing at Ksh 305.6Million in its Full Year 2015 Results. The NSE attributed the decline to reduced turnover in the market which shed 1.65% to close at KES 808.3Million
    • •Transcentury Group has reached an agreement with its majority convertible bond holders to reduce its debt from USD 80 Million to USD 40 Million,two days before the maturity date.
    • •A supplier by the name Ceccagnoli Italiano Limited has gone to court and wants Uchumi Supermarkets winded up and its assests sold so as to recover the amount Uchumi owes the firm. The move comes […]
