Nigerian civil defense corps officials secure the area following an explosion at a gasoline pipeline at Arepo, in Ogun, Nigeria, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. The gasoline pipeline runs through southwest Nigeria and this attack is being seen as a worrying expansion to the unchecked thefts which have become an incredibly lucrative business for criminal gangs hitting the country's petroleum-based economy. Officials with Nigerias Security and Civil Defense Corps told The Associated Press that they blamed the attack on a group of thieves who have been increasingly targeting pipelines in the region.
