NCBA has announced that it will close 14 branches following approvals from the Central Bank of Kenya. However, seven of the affected had been temporarily closed since April 1st, 2020, as a result of the effects of the COVID19 pandemic.
NCBA says that merging of the branches will enable the realization of merger synergies, create operational efficiencies, and enhance service delivery. NCBA will close the former CBA & NIC branches in locations where they are co-located or in close proximity to each other. The Branches will be merged with the impacted branches ceasing operations with effect from July 4, 2020.
Early last year, NIC Bank merged with CBA to form NCBA Bank (a part of NCBAGroup), which is already licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya. The group has subsidiary companies in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and the Ivory Coast.
