    NBV Hits Five-Year Low, Uchumi and DTB Extend Gains in Monday Trading

    Monday Midday Market Update (1:30 PM EAT)

    The market opens the week mixed.

    • •Nairobi Business Ventures drops to KSh 1.48, its lowest level in five years, last seen in November 2020 during the post-suspension rally.
    • •Co-operative Bank trades at KSh 25.00, holding its all-time highs from last week.
    • •DTB hits KSh 116.00, the highest level since January 2020.
    • •Uchumi moves to KSh 0.52, a price last recorded in June 2019.

    Total market turnover stands at KSh 270M.

    • •Safaricom leads activity at KSh 69M.
    • •Stanchart follows at KSh 63M, driven by three trades at 10:42 AM involving 150K, 25K, and 15K shares at KSh 306.00, which account for 92% of its turnover.

    Foreign investors buy KSh 16.4M and sell KSh 73.5M. Equity Bank leads foreign buys at KSh 9.9M, while Safaricom leads sells at KSh 62M.

    Top gainers at midday are Uchumi (+8.33%), Kapchorua (+7.20%), and Sameer Africa (+6.86%). The main losers are Eaagads (–6.57%), Crown Paints (–4.27%), and Eveready (–3.70%).

    The benchmark index, NASI, is up 0.5% at midday.
