The Nairobi Securities Exchange suffered one of its worst
Trading started at 2.55 PM just 5 minutes to market close. The exchange extended today’s trading by two hours from the usual deadline of 3 pm to 5pm.
In a statement, NSE said, “…trading activities are currently unavailable due to technical challenges occasioned by the unavailability of connectivity to the Central Depository System.”
According to sources with knowledge of the matter, the problem came after a failure by the Central Depository & Settlement Corporation (CDSC) to move to the new system announced
At the start of 2019, NSE announced plans to acquire a new and more efficient trading system. The company suffered similar hitches in 2018 which led to massive losses for market stakeholders.
