Nairobi City County Government plans to hold a tech week from 7th to 11th of August with the aim of bringing together innovation stakeholders to create greater visibility for the city’s vibrant tech ecosystem. Under the theme Innovation Unleashed for Economic Opportunities, this tech week is a program by the City County Government under its Digital Economy and Startup sector.
The event aims to link up startups to investors and partners who include angle investors, venture capitalists and private equity funds as well as provide a platform for policy discussions, career opportunities for the youth as well as links for international startups and businesses.
Nairobi City County plan for Tech Innovators
Nairobi City County approach to supporting startups and innovation adopts user centred design and market driven approach in its implementation by choosing to work very closely with stakeholders in the ecosystem ensuring that everyone is heard and gets value.
Participants attending this event will be exposed to discussions on Talent, Web3, Cyber security, Climate Change, Investment, Startup policy, Education, Health, Media and Creative Economy, Hardware & Robotics, Women in Tech and Fintech.
The tech week is suitable for startups looking for investment funds, partners as well as policy makers, investors, corporate and development partners as well as the academia.
In its 2023-27 plan, Nairobi County plans to establish ward-based incubation centres of excellence through adopt a Hub Model. It will also establish a startup seed funding and grant mechanism while undertaking policy intervention for Nairobi startup ecosystem.
The Kenyan Capital City also seeking to establish itself as Africa startup market Launchpad, using its data base, the TechWeek, as well as setting up an Incubation model.
