    Nairobi Business Ventures Changes its Leadership Team

    As part of an overhaul of its leadership team, Nairobi Business Ventures (NBV) has appointed the former Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Chairman, Samuel Njuguna Kimani, as the new chairman on its board of directors. The company has also named 58-year-old Haresh V. Soni as its new Chief Executive Officer and Vasu Abotula as the Director of Corporate Affairs.

    Samuel Kimani served as the Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange for four years from June 2016 to July 2020. He is the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of the Jamii Bora Bank, now known as Kingdom Bank Ltd. Samuel Kimani has a wealth of experience in the banking industry having served in different senior roles for over 20 years.

    The top executive previously worked at the Central Bank of Kenya as Deputy Chief Banking Manager, Deputy Director Financial Markets, Principal Financial Accountant, and Chief Internal Auditor. He also led the Surveillance Division at the Deposit Protection Fund and worked as a Senior Auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). Samuel sits on various boards including the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation board, the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC) board, and the University of Stellenbosch Executive Education Advisory Board.

    NBV’s new CEO, Haresh V. Soni, is the Chairman of Dubai-based Delta International FZE and founder of Shreeji Group of Companies. He owns Shreeji Chemicals; Shreeji Glass in Uganda; Tanzania-based Shreeji Silicates, manufacturers of Sodium Silicate; Delta Holdings Ltd, a property and real estate company; Delta Automobiles Ltd, a state of art service centres for heavy commercial vehicles; Air Direct, an air cargo and aviation company; and Aviation Management Solution Ltd, an aircraft service and hanger provider situated near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

    The company’s new Director of Corporate Affairs, Vasu Abotula, is a co-founder of Nairobi Business Ventures and highly skilled in finance and management. He has held various leadership roles including Finance Controller at Alpharama Ltd, General Manager at Mombasa Salt Works Ltd, and General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at Kensta Group.
