MTN launched an API marketplace ‘Chenosis’ which will allow African developers to tap into a variety of API products from across the continent in a single marketplace. The API marketplace will enable developers to businesses and developers to discover and subscribe to what MTN terms as the largest library of open APIs in Africa.
Developers and developers on the platform can publish their APIs, allowing others to consume them. Further, the platform enables developers to monetise their APIs through creating subscription plans accessible to peers and businesses.
Speaking on Chenosis, MTN Group Chief Technology and Information Officer said, “We have exciting pan-African and international partnerships lined up to publish and monetise their APIs in the marketplace over the coming months. These partnerships will enable Chenosis to become the largest and most diverse developer ecosystem on the African continent.”
MTN says Chenosis will allow developers to mashup APIs, connecting APIs across industries and building new service and business models through coordinating different APIs.
Chenosis is a separate entity and brand from MTN and will open to all mobile network operators, fintech startups and payment service providers.
The platform will be open to the public on August 10th.
