    Mpesa Scheduled Maintenance Tonight

Safaricom has notified its customers that today 2nd July 2020, from 2359hrs to 0500hr, the Mpesa platform will undergo scheduled maintenance. In this regard, Safaricom customers will not be able to access Mpesa services such as airtime purchase, sending money, and pay bills services.

In a statement, Safaricom says that the maintenance will enable them to continue offering quality services. The previous maintenance in June 2020 saw the telco launch the Mpesa for Business App that allows businesses to withdraw money from their mobile phones and bank accounts at agent locations. Safaricom had earlier launched the Mpesa for Business services USSD with both services allowing over 170,000 agents to conduct direct transactions from their tills.

Furthermore, an update in May 2020 saw Safaricom tackle fraud with the MPESA product and ecosystem. With the new update, anyone who tries to register a new SIM card with your ID number, you will receive an SMS from Safaricom using the ID 707. You will then choose Yes to authorize the registration or No to cancel it.
