Integrated oil and gas company Total Kenya has appointed the Managing Director and Director of TOTAL Nigeria Jean Philippe Torres to chair its Kenyan Board effective 5th of September, after the resignation of former chair Jean-Christian Bergeron from the board and consequently ceasing to be chair of the company.
Mr Jean-Christian Bergeron had been at the helm of the company since his appointment as a company director and Chairman of the Board on 15th September 2015. He had previously served as the company’s Executive Vice President for East & Central Africa and Executive Vice President for Retail among other leadership positions in a career that span over two decades at the company with years of experience in sales and marketing.
Other board members include, Mr Stanislas Mittelman – Non-Executive Director, Anne-Solange Renouard – Managing Director, Dr Joe Muchekehu, Mr Joseph Karago, Premanand Dhoomon – Finance Director, Ms Margaret Shava, Dr. Macharia Irungu – Strategy & Corporate Affairs Director, Mr Jerome Burban and Mr. Maonga – Company Secretary.
The change comes at a time when the petroleum sector has been hit with a 16 per cent value added tax (VAT) by the ministry of treasury, amid outrage from the general public and other stakeholders who claim it’s misinformed.
Petitioners had through their lawyer, argued that the Treasury Cabinet Secretary(CS) Henry Rotich had flouted key constitutional principles and values in arriving at the decision which has caused the public outcry.
