The chairman of South African retailer Massmart has said that they plan to open nearly 20 new outlets in pan-African countries over the next three years.
“We’re very bullish about Africa, sub-Saharan Africa as a whole,” Kuseni Dlamini said. “This year alone we will be opening eight new stores on the African continent. In the next three years, we will be expanding our retail trading space by 35.6 percent.”
Massmart will open new outlets in Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Swaziland, and Mozambique. Dlamini also added that Massmart is looking into French-speaking countries in West Africa with the aim of running operations there.
Massmart opened its flagship Game store in Nairobi in 2016, marking its entry into a market it had been eyeing for years.
