    Marriott International Debuts in the DRC with Two Hotels

    Marriott International has made its debut in The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with the openings of Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa and Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa.

    • •Protea Hotel by Mariott Kinshasa is situated in an upscale neighbourhood near the Congo River, surrounded by government offices, corporate headquarters, and malls.
    • •The 134-room Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa also includes 230 square meters of meeting space, among other amenities.
    • •Both hotels are managed by third-party management company SARV Management LLC.

    “With the openings of Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa and Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa, we’re excited to offer travellers and Marriott Bonvoy members two distinct ways to experience our trusted service and signature brand experiences in this dynamic market,” said Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President, Premium, Select & Midscale Brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International.

    The expansion is part of Marriott's aggressive expansion in different African countries, with over 50 properties in the pipeline. The chain already has 150 properties and 26, 000 rooms across 20 countries and 22 brands.

    Marriott’s portfolio in Tanzania is expected to more than double by the end of 2027 while in Kenya the company plans to open five new properties, including the debut of Courtyard by Marriott with two expected openings in Nairobi in 2027. Growth plans in Uganda include the country’s first Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments with scheduled openings in Kampala by the end of 2025.

    By the end of 2027, the company will add six properties in Nigeria, its largest growth market in the West Africa region. Plans include the introduction of Courtyard by Marriott in Abuja within the next two years, and the expansion of Protea Hotels by Marriott and Marriott Hotels.
