    Market Turnover Rises 34% to KSh 480 Million

    Market Turnover Rises 34% to KSh 480 Million

    NSE Turnover on Wednesday rose 34% to KSh 480 million compared to Tuesday’s KSh 359 million. NSE Market capitalization stood at KSh 2.09 Trillion with Safaricom making up KSh 1.15 Trillion of this.

    The telecommunication giant Safaricom was the top mover of the day with 11.5 million shares traded. Safaricom turnover for the day was KSh 332 million. This was 69.12% of the day’s traded value.

    Top gainer of the day was Kenya Airways with a 9.76% share price appreciation. KQ closed the day at Ksh. 3.28. Kenya airways share price has been on the rise, gaining 39.1% in the last 4 trading sessions. KQ moved 159,400 shares valued at Ksh. 573,840

    Other gainers of the day were : Liberty Kenya(9.48%), Carbacid(7.48%), Home Afrika(7.32%) and NSE(3.36%). A total of 18 stocks gained while 16 lost share price value.

    Top losers of the day were Sameer Africa and Flame tree group with 9.71% and 5.73% share price depreciation. Nation Media stock shed off 3.57% of its share price value, closing at KSH 14.85 per share. NMG exchanged 258,400 shares worth KSh 3.84 million. Other losers of the day were Total Kenya(3.48%) and Transcentury(3.25%)

    The Banking sector had shares worth KSh 130 million transacted, which accounted for 27.20% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group moved 2.2 million shares valued at Ksh. 77 million.

    Equity was trading at between Ksh. 33.90 and Ksh. 34.75. Cooperative bank moved 1.48 million shares. The bank’s stock price remained unchanged at Ksh. 12.15. KCB Group moved shares worth Ksh. 14 million closing at KSh 35.95

    The NSE All share index gained 0.05 points to close at 137.73. The NSE 20 gained 5.52 points to close at 1947.64 while the NSE 25 gained 1.44 points to close at 3215.67
