    The benchmark NSE-20 Share Index was down 35.79 points to close at 3,918.75 points. The All Share Index (NASI) was down 1.92 points to close at 142.85 points. Turnover was down up by 16.7% to KES 1.067Bn compared to the previous day. 27.44 million Shares were traded. 1,180 deals were executed.

    Foreign buys stood at 16.34% of total turnover and foreign sales stood at 25.54%.

    We have noticed there has been some activity on TransCentury (TCL) the past 5 days, the short rally we presume is as a result of speculative play. TransCentury’s fundamentals are simply not the best.

    In the debt market, bonds valued at 160 million shillings were traded. 3 deal were executed. Only two bonds were traded:

    1. •The One Year Bond FXD1/2015/1Yr with a turnover of KES 60million. Clean price of 104.3123. Traded Yield 12.85%
    2. •Sell/Buy Back Transactions. FXD 1/2012/10Yr. Turnover KES 100 million. Clean Price 95.3983. Traded Yield 13.8%

    East African Markets

    Uganda: The USE ALSI declined 1.21 percent to close at 1727.88 while USE LSI remained constant to close at 406.58. A total of 38,809 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 9.02mn.

    Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 146.99 and 130.62. A total of 28,800 shares were traded with a turnover of UGX 7.83mn.

    Tanzania: The DSEI gained 2.26 percent to close at 2,373.21 while DSE TSI remained constant to end the day at 4,498.34. Africa Barrick Gold gained 5.76 percent to close at TZS 6,060.00. Total volumes were recorded at 40,980 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 129.03mn.

    Uchumi seeks a strategic investor to inject up to KES 5Bn.

    ARM Cement

    ARM is in discussions with an institutional investor who intends to make an investment of up to $125 Million equity investment through preference shares.

    Kenya T-Bills Rise

    The weighted average yield on Kenya’s 91-day Treasury bill rose to 10.406 percent at an auction on Wednesday from 9.946 percent last week, the central bank said.

    The yield on 182-day Treasury bills also on sale went up to 12.336 percent from 11.717 percent last week, while that on the 364-day bills jumped to 12.747 percent from 12.482 percent.

    The bank said it received bids worth 13.11 billion shillings ($128.22 million) for the 16 billion shillings worth of bids it offered, and accepted 10.27 billion shillings.

    Kenyan Tea

    The maximum price of the top grade of Kenyan tea, Best Broken Pekoe Ones (BP1s) TEABP1-BEST-KE, was stable at this week’s auction, Tea Brokers East Africa Limited said.
