    Market Down Slightly at the Beginning of the Week

    The NSE 20 share Index was down 18.63 points to stand at 2436.64 points at the close of business on Monday compared to Friday last week. The All Share Index NASI shed 1.23 points to stand at 146.41.
    The NSE 25 Share index dropped 18.41 points to settle at 3475.37.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth Sh 6 million transacted which accounted for 4.26% of the day’s traded value. Co-operative Bank moved 212,000 shares valued at Sh.2.5million at between Sh.12.00 and Sh12.75. KCB Group down 0.84% to Sh.41.45 moved 33,000 shares worth Sh1.3 million. Diamond Trust Bank moved 6,300 shares worth Sh.724,000 and closed Sh.115.00.
    The Energy & Petroleum sector had shares worth 969,000 traded & accounted for 0.68% of the day’s traded value. KenGen closed the day 1.72% higher to Sh.5.80 moving 113,000 shares valued at Sh.658,000.

    The Manufacturing and Allied sector had shares worth 101million traded & accounted for 71.83% of the day’s traded value. East African Breweries Limited was the day’s main feature with 526,000 shares valued at Sh101 million changing hands at between Sh.192.25 and Sh.193.00.

    Safaricom had 1.1 million shares valued at Sh.31.6 million transacted at between Sh.27.90 and Sh 28.45; this represented 22.30% of the day’s traded value.
    The Bond market had bonds worth Sh1.3 billion transacted.
