Mr Macdonald Obudho has ascended to the helm of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) as Director-General. Mr Obudho takes over from Zachary Mwangi whose eight-year tenure ended on October 30.
Mr Obudho joined the Statistics body in 1995 and has risen through the ranks from Statistician III to the current Director-General. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer and a Master’s of Science degree in Statistics from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He is currently pursuing a PhD course in statistics.
During his 25-year stint at the Bureau, Mwangi has amassed vast experience in conducting population and housing census including the first-ever Kenya digital census conducted in 2019. In addition, he serves in a number of boards including Hazina Sacco Ltd and has experiencing serving in the Bureau’s top management giving him rich administrative and technical experience.
