Lufthansa Group has announced that it will increase its current Frankfurt-Nairobi connection from five to seven weekly flights for the summer flight schedule, citing “positive booking trends”, effective June 3.
This move makes the German carrier the newest major European airline to recognize Kenya’s capital as a key destination for reviving air travel after the pandemic.
Every day, there will be extra flights coming from Frankfurt to Nairobi that are scheduled to arrive at 20:30. Additionally, the return flight will depart from Nairobi each evening at 22:25 local time.
The German carrier will also maintain the four weekly flights between Frankfurt and Mombasa for the summer flight plan operated by its leisure carrier, Eurowings Discover.
In addition, Lufthansa Group already offers three East African destinations through its Eurowings Discover network: Mombasa, Zanzibar, and Kilimanjaro. With this announcement, the total capacity offered between Kenya and Germany will be eleven weekly flights.
These developments demonstrate Lufthansa’s commitment to East Africa, as the group has relocated the commercial responsibility for the passenger business back to Kenya.
