Longhorn Publishers Appoints Joseph Kiruri New CFO

Longhorn Publishers Plc has appointed Joseph Kiruri as the Chief Finance and Operations Officer.

In a press statement, the group Chairman Francis Nyammo noted that Mr Kiruri’s appointment takes effect from 5th December 2018.

Mr Kiruri has over 10 year experience working with Pricewaterhousecoopers in Kenya and in South Africa , aiding companies with financial analysis, reporting, auditing and strategic planning.

He holds a bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Post Harvest Technology from JKUAT and is a certified public Accountant (CPA-K).

The new CFO comes at a time when the publisher posted Ksh183.6 million in net profit during the year under review, a 38 per cent growth for the year ended 30 June 2018, compared to Ksh133.8 million in the previous financial year.

Mr Kiruri will join Maxwell Wahome who was headhunted from PwC in 2016 to join the book publisher as its chief operations officer.

Mr Wahome was confirmed the firm’s Ag Group managing director in July following the resignation of Simon Ngigi.

Longhorn’s Publishers, owned by Centum Investments, has presence Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda through its subsidiaries, and in Ethiopia, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Malawi and Zambia through strategic partnerships.
