Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) had received over 5.4 Million tax records as at 28th June as more Kenyan taxpayers rushed to beat the 30th June deadline set for submission of returns.
According to the taxman, this represents a 16% growth as at data received two days before the 30th June 2023 deadline, compared to a similar period in 2022.
KRA strategic plan to ensure tax compliance
The Authority attributes this improvement to more engagement with taxpayers at the grassroots level, as well as improvement of its support services to the taxpayer such as offsite filing, extended hours at various service and Huduma centres, use of tax returns filing guides and video tutorials on its website, and virtual support the social media platforms and social centres.
The Authority has prepared step-by-step tutorials to facilitate smooth filing of returns.
