    Kenya Power Appoints Bernard Ngugi as New CEO

    The Kenya Power Company board of directors has appointed Bernard Ngugi as the Managing Director and CEO of the company with effect from 28 October, 2019.

    Mr Bernard Ngugi is replacing Eng. Jared Otieno who has been the Acting Managing Director and CEO from July 2018 after the suspension of the management team.

    Mr Bernard Ngugi was the former General Manager in charge of Supply Chain in Kenya Power. He states that his immediate focus will be to lead the company towards profitability and to ensure that Kenya Power achieves its socio-economic aims through the company’s 5-year strategic plan that aims at delivering the best customer service and business sustainability.

    Kenya Power Chairman Amb(Eng) Mahboub Maalim stated that he believes Mr Ngugi will see the company through its development and growth as it works towards implementing plans to strengthen the commercial aspects of the business.

    Benard Ngugi has over 30 years experience in Kenya Power with expertise in Financial and revenue accounting, internal audit and supply chain management. He holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya.

    Mr Ngugi also holds a diploma in from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and supplies and is a member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
