Kenya’s export ambitions have received a boost with the launch of Kifaru Exim SEZ Ltd at Tatu City, a facility designed to equip Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the infrastructure and incentives needed to compete globally.
- •Developed by local investors, Kifaru Exim SEZ offers nine Grade A warehouses covering 10,165 square meters, with individual units ranging up to 1,229 square meters.
- •Since 2011, Tatu City has grown into Kenya’s leading private SEZ, hosting over 40 licensed enterprises—more than half of the country’s SEZ firms.
- •With US$ 3 billion in investments and 15,000 jobs created, it has become a key anchor for Kenya’s industrial transformation.
“Kifaru Exim SEZ demonstrates the private sector’s confidence in Kenya’s SEZ program. It will open new opportunities for SMEs to manufacture, export and create jobs,” said the Principal Secretary, State Department of Investments, Abubakar Hassan Abubakar.
According to SSME Support Centre (SSC) CEO, Linda Onyango, the project is “a major step towards integrating SMEs into SEZs and positioning them to compete globally.”
