Kenyan employees seek learning opportunities, availability of promotions, professional training, positive company culture and supportive management from their employers. These insights are according to an employer brand survey released today by Shortlist East Africa. The survey had over 1,200 respondents, the majority of which (58%) were millennials between the ages of 25-35. The report also features a list of the top 25 employers in Kenya, as voted by the survey respondents.
The survey showed that when looking for a new job, professionals value learning and promotion opportunities (ranked one and two) over salary and stability (ranked six and seven). Additionally, well-known brand name remains important to Kenyan talent, with 63% of respondents saying that it is important that their family and friends recognize the name of the company they work for; this percentage was even higher for male respondents.
The report also includes 2019 List of the top twenty-five employers in Kenya. Safaricom PLC took the lead, followed by East African Breweries Limited, United Nations, PwC and Unilever.
