The National Assembly has called upon the members of the public to present their views on the ratification of the Revised Constitution of the African Civil Aviation Commission for approval by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
The Treaty has been committed to the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing for deliberation prior to consideration by the Parliament on the proposed approval of ratification.
AFCAC is a specialized agency of the African Union which is responsible for civil aviation matters in Africa.
The revised constitution of the AFCAC, which is set for adoption in December 2019, is set to foster compliance with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards and recommended practices for the safety, security and environmental protection in civil aviation in the continent.
The treaty is also meant to promote understanding on policy matters between its member states and in other parts of the world.
Revising the AFCAC Constitution will also enhance efficiency and regularity of the air transport among African States as well as formulating and enforcing appropriate rules and regulations that give fair and equal opportunity to all stakeholders and promote fair competition.
