According to a report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), mobile money transactions decreased from 146.20 million in December 2016 to 139.93 million in December 2017.
However, the number of mobile money subscriptions increased to 37.39 million in December 2017 from 34.96 million in December 2016. Additionally, the value of mobile money transactions rose from Sh316.77 billion in December 2016 to Sh332.62 billion in December 2017.
The number of mobile money agents rose from 165,908 in December 2016 to 182, 472 in December 2017. However, the number of mobile money agents was on a decreasing trend from January to June 2017 compared to the number of agents recorded in December 2016.
