Kenya Railways will no longer accept cash for purchasing tickets at Madaraka Express Passenger Service stations as of February 1st 2023, according to a public notice from the management.

President Ruto announced that all government services would be digitized within the next six months to broaden the tax base and eliminate any tax collection loopholes.
He stated that this would also make it possible for taxes to be collected online for every government service that requires them.
He also mentioned that under his leadership, no exceptions will be made and that his government plans to increase their revenue collection by an additional trillion shillings within the next two years to double its current collection by 2027.
