Following the arraignment in court of the former Kenya Power CEO Ken Tarus over economic crimes and abuse of office, which resulted in contract termination, Kenya Power has launched its search for a new CEO.
The recruitment process, which was opened on 23rd August 2019, will run through to 6th September 2019. Kenya Power has contracted Deloitte to assist in the hiring process.
Applicants are required to get clearance certificate from the Higher Loans Education Board (HELB), tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and a clear record from Credit Reference Bureau.
The candidates must also comply with chapter six of the Kenyan constitution, which covers various aspect of leadership and integrity, including but not limited to responsibilities of leadership.
The national electricity transmitting company has recently been in the limelight because of numerous scandals ranging from illegal connections to the grid, inflation of consumer bills, power-token theft, illegal acquisition of defective transformers among others.
Kenya Power has, in the mean time, been running under the leadership of Jared Othieno, who was appointed by the Energy CS Charles Keter.
