Kenya Power has launched the fourth and final phase of its Last Mile Connectivity Program, which targets 280,475 customers in 32 counties across the country for a period of three years.
The program has received funding from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), The European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), all in partnership with the Government of Kenya.
AFD together with the European Union will be making available to the Government of Kenya a total amount of Ksh 13.7 Billion (120 Million Euros). Of this amount, 90 Million Euros will be a concessional sovereign loan and 30 Million Euros will be a grant. The European Investment Bank has agreed to support the LMCP with up to a maximum of 60 Million Euros, making the total fund for this phase to be 180 Million Euros.
Interested consultants for the project are asked to apply by 1st October 2019, where they will be required to provide information evidencing that they are qualified and experienced to perform those services.
Full implementation of the Last Mile Connectivity Project will facilitate Government objective of connecting a majority of Kenyan households thereby achievement of universal access by 2020.
The beneficiaries of this project will pay a contribution fee of KShs.15,000.
