Kenya Power Unveils A Self-Service Portal for New Connections

Kenya Power has rolled out a self-service portal that will allow customers to apply for power connections from the comfort of their homes using the mobile phone App ‘My Power.’

One can also access the website https:// selfservice. kplc.co.ke using a mobile phone or computer.

All that is required is for the applicant to provide details on the property, PIN and an ID card through the platform.

One will then be given a reference number immediately and can make queries on the status of their applications using USSDCode * 977#

Kenya Power will also send text messages on the status of the electricity connection application.

Kenya Power has already processed 7,000 applications on this portal

According to the firm’s CEO and Managing Director Bernand Ngugi, the portal will make services more accessible to customers and drive sales.

Already some 7,000 applications have been processed through this portal. In addition, customers will now be shielded from fraudsters who ask for payments when one is making an application.

The online application process is among several services accessible to customers through the self-service portal that the firm has initiated to enhance customer experience.

Customers can access include reporting power outages, carrying out prepaid token purchase queries or submitting meter readings.
