    Kenya Power Board Suspends MD Ken Tarus

    Kenya Power Board of directors has suspended the company’s Managing Director Ken Tarus following summons over graft allegations amounting to more than Sh 4.5 Billion involving 40 former and current senior executives of the company.

    According to the Star newspaper, the company’s board Chairman Mahboub Maalim called a crisis meeting on Monday morning to fill positions of managers who have been arrested over the scandal.

    According to the Nation, Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered the arrest of the individuals over “procurement of defective transformers and irregularities in prequalifying 525 companies for labour and transport contracts.”

    Dr Ken Tarus is said to have surrendered to police on Sunday evening. Others indicted in scandal include former KPLC MD Ben Chumo, legal secretary Beatrice Meso, Peter Mwicigi – General Manager Regional Co-ordination, Benson Muriithi -General Manager, Network Management, Peter Mungai Kinuthia – GM Business Strategy, Joshua Mutua – GM Commercial Services and Abubakar Swaleh who is the GM Human Resource and Administration.
